I have never seen this subspecies. What must we check to differentiate it from typical specimens? |

I have only 2 ponticus in my collection, Cosmin has collected more and gave me one, I have collected one too. They appear slender and more cylindrical then the nominate subspecies. I will attach aedoeagus differences from Niehuis M. 1989. Meliboeus (Meliboeoides) adlbaurei n. sp., ein neuer Prachtkäfer aus dem Vorderen Orient (Coleoptera: Buprestidae). Mitt. int. ent. Ver., 13(3/4): 121-131. and the distribution: Kubán V. 2006. Buprestoidea, pp.: 325-421, in: Löbl L. & A. Smetana (Eds.) Catalogue of Palaearctic Coleoptera, Vol. 3 Scarabaeoidea, Scirtoidea, Dascilloidea, Buprestoidea, Byrrhoidea. Apollo Books Stenstrup. I have not a scanner and my colleagues with a scanner are all gone. I had to take these pictures with my phone. I am apologize for the quality. I hope they are readable.
