This is a very strange genus of Madagascar and probably Southern Africa, it is very polymorphic having a lot of subgenera.
I have only this little species (the male is 18 mm, the female is 23 mm). I think Maurizio can say more about it.
I hope this time the identification to be not doubtful. I had only this page for comparation: http://virtual-beetles.pagesperso-orang ... three.html

No. It is endemic of Madagascar and Comores, only.

Sorry if I answer you in Italian, but I don't have enough time, now.

E' un genere con moltissime specie (credo circa 200, ma controllerò) di forme diversissime tra loro, tanto da sembrare addirittura di famiglie diverse, ma tutte originate da poche forme ancestrali parenti delle Lampetis africane.

Alcune specie sono molto difficili da determinare.
In questo caso la determinazione è giusta, ma ci sono almeno altre due specie (quadrispilota e subsilphoides) che gli somigliano molto. (la forma cambia abbastanza, nella stessa specie, tra individui di grandi e piccole dimensioni)
Per complicare le cose, molti esemplari in commercio arrivano con i nomi più svariati. Ho ricevuto la stessa specie con fino a 4 nomi diversi!
