I see differences in the dorsal side (veins are more pronounced and the pits look bigger and deeper at these images of igniventris). It is not only the ventral colour, even the both specimen are similar in the ventral colour. I dont care of the color of the pits, they can be different.

However, I don't see other possibilities except igniventris and solieri. Other species are different and live on other host plants (C. cypria lives on Cistus sp.!)

Elytra are like igniventris (spots and costae), frons is green, like igniventris, parameres are similar to igniventris, the last sternite is like igniventris, host plant is that of igniventris. So, were is the problem?

You know Chr.igniventris should not be there.This ia a central European species.I dont know localities in Italy but I guess they are only to the very north.Then how did you identify these specimens:

from these unclear pictures, both specimens with greenish forehead?
Why not Chr.igniventris in Sicily then? You say differences are caused by the variability of this greek population.Do you know other populations with such variations?

Hi,
I just unglued and checked my specimens of solieri and found there is a technical mistake in the book by Bily.last sternite 13 and 14 is for solieri.
Also some males have copper ventral side,
So,Adrian, your specimens are just Chr.solieri with greenish forehead and smaller dots.
