I think it is C. affinis (because of the small size of yellow spots).

It was collected on Pinus. I saw the small golden spots too, but all shape and size and the Aedeagus is different.

Sorry for my delay. Today I was busy.

In my opinion, this is Chrysobothris igniventris Reitter, 1895.

Please, check the colour of frons (forehead).

Where can we find a key of European Chrysobothris ? I have specimens from Greece I can't determine....

The ventral face of these specimens is the same color as the pronotum and not brilliant like in this image: http://www.biolib.cz/en/image/id3521/

That's why I think is not Chrysobothris igniventris. According to Mühle, Brandl & Niehuis (2000), there are the known species of Chrysobothris in Greece:

C. affinis (Fabricius, 1794)
C. chrysostigma (Linnaeus, 1758)
C. leonhardi Obenberger, 1916
C. solieri Gory & Laporte, 1838
C. chalcophana mediterranea Novak, 1986 (this species has no golden spots on the elytra).
C. igniventris is not mentioned in this catalogue.

Hello Adrian,
It should be Chr.solieri for the reasons you already explained. These two species are not easy to separate because the only significant difference is the colour of frons and abdomen and shape and punctuation of the last sternite. You can check the figures by Bily and original keys by Reitter.

Hi Georgi. I presumptely waited for you. I will study this. Unfortunately, I have no typical C. solieri, nor Ch. igniventris in my collection or somewhere close to can examine. Can you give me the name of the articol and magazine where you extracted these pages? Even the drawings with the last sternit and aedeagus I need the caption of these figures too. Thanks a lot.

I know that C. igniventris is not in the Cat. Fauna Greciae, but in dorsal view this specimens is very similar to this species. I asked to know the colour of the head, because usually in igniventris is green, coppery brown in solieri.
This seems to be green, and it confirms my supposition, however could be better to check the abdomen, too.

I will unstick the other specimen (male too) and I will make a photo of its ventral side. Tomorrow.

Hi,
I suspect Chr. cypria.Maurizio or someone else,do you know well this species or have in collection?

Sorry,in fact probably this is not Chr.cypria,too.Cypres is not so close to Greek mainland. But the species looks similar. For sure not solieri or igniventris.

I don't undestand why not igniventris.
Elytra are like igniventris (spots and costae), frons is green, like igniventris, parameres are similar to igniventris, the last sternite is like igniventris, host plant is that of igniventris. So, were is the problem?

The different colour of underside could be caused by individual variability, or it could be a character of this grecian population.

However, I'll ask to Gianluca Magnani, author of C. cypria and one of those with the best knowledge on Palaearctic Chrysobothris.
