All males caught in this area (Western Romania), close to Hungary which the sister and vicariate species (Anthaxia (Anthaxia) nitidula (Linnaeus, 1758)) occurs. I have found a number of 5 males and a female. All males have red pronotum (signaticollis character), but without any black mark (nitidula character). The female is with red pronotum and black marks, like a typical signaticollis. I am not sure now if this is a hybrid, or just a variation.
