Soooo, where to put this one ? Only what I can think of is a form of picta...melanic picta ? 14mm

Mai vista!

Le elitre sono molto simili a quelle di Phaenops marmottani (specie legata a Cedrus e Abies, che non dovrebbero raggiungere quella zona dell'Alto Atlante, dove però ci dovrebbero essere Pinus, Juniperus e Cupressus). Testa e protorace però sono diversi, molto simili a quelli di Trachypteris. Non so cosa sia. Una Trachypteris picta melanica, oppure qualcosa di nuovo?
Su che pianta è stata trovata?

Host plant hasn`t been mentioned for reason...exactly what you said...Phaenops like. No cedars there as you know. I can`t remember Pinus. Collected on Populus. That` s why I m thinking about picta. Do you know where I could see aedeagus of picta ? Well, just in the case this is a male...

It does match the aedeagus perfectly...mistery solved ! Melanic picta...

Hmmm...not sure if any more black ones. I remember I collected picta in 1 more place somewhere on that road. From this place this was the only specimen as I had it packed separately, but really I don`t remember. There is still around 3kg from Morocco in the freezer. I will check it out and let you know. This specimen was promised to R. Rejzek ...

Thank you Zdenko. It was just trying to know if it was a single melanic specimen or there is a melanic population in that place. I was not asking you for this or other specimens.
