Hi all, any idea about this Meliboeus from Romania? Lenght ~ 5.5 mm

It seems close to Meliboeus graminis, but aedeagus is different. I don't know this species

It is not new. Why do you think it is new for Romania?

In the book of buprestids from Romania this species is not present. However in the Catalogue of Palearctic Coleoptera and in the paper regarding the ukrainian species, M. subulatus seems to be present in Romania, but I couldn't find any info about the date/place where this species was observed here before. Is anyone here who has any idea about such a paper?

Alexandru, do you have the first or the second edition of the Cat. Pal. Col.?
However, some "strange" indications in the distribution of species are probably wrong in these books. Perhaps they come from old papers. The same happens for Italian fauna. Some, not all.

I have both editions of the Cat. Pal. Col., and in both of them M. subulatus is recorded from Romania. I am pretty sure the info about this species come from some old paper, and I am curious about it, but the chances to get the paper are pretty low I guess

I see. In this direction do you find any data about M. orientalis from Romania?

They are only 2 specimens collected from Comana (near Bucharest) and stored in the Museum of Natural History Paris (France) from where the species were described by Abeille de Perrin in 1905. No other specimen was collected or cited, but the species is valid. I think that species is extinct, until new data.

@Alexandru: M. subulatus records not coming in Cat. Pal. Col. from old publications (I have examined all), but from specimens collected from territories which belong to Romania, stored in museums collections, but not published. I could not investigate the collections of Prague or Budapest Natural History Museums to see the specimens when I wrote the book, but Dr. Kuban and Dr. Bily could, so this explains the strangeness.
