Juvenile stages of Lygaeidae (Rhynchota). Possibly, but not surely, genus Nysius. In Italy, we call 'neanide' (in English 'neanid', but generally this term is not used outside of Italy) the first stage after the egg in Heteroptera, without wing pads, and 'ninfa' (= nymph) the subsequent stage, with wing pads and preceding the winged adult. For English-speaking entomologists, juvenile stages of these insects are all 'nymphs'. Both stages ('neanidi' and 'ninfe') undergo moults and metamorphosis. There are often five juvenile instars in the biological cycle of these insects. |
