The size range of E. maura is approx 8.0-13.00 mm. In Iran and Turkey specimens exceeding 12.0 mm are rather frequent, so the occurence of large specimens on Rhodos is not surprising. In order to show the size variability I am posting a photo in which I have put side by side two males from near localities in Iran (the largest one is 12.8 mm long).

The most reliable character to separate the two species are male genitalia: the phallus of E. integriceps is provided with one pair of sclerotized processes, that of E. maura with two pairs. In addition the anterior lateral margin of pronotum is straight in E. maura, distinctly curved, bowlike in E. integriceps (it seems straight in your photos, but I know that photos may be misleading). Besides, the body of E. integriceps is generally elongate, that of E. maura shorter. |

Eurygaster maura-2. antennal segment twice as long as 3.That does not apply.

You have to look at the lateral margins of the pronotum (as shown in my photo) not of the head! There are no differences in the relative lenghts of antennae in E. integriceps and E. maura; the ratio II/III antennal segment is 1.5-1.6 in both species. However, as I have already written, the only realiable character lies in the genitalia.
