Only using a photocell or there is the possibility of a direct electrical contact (hot shoe)? If you have PC connector for studio flash in your camera you can use included cable synchronization. Or you can buy a PC adapter for hot-shoe. There are flash with wireless and wireless adapters too. eg. http://allegro.pl/zarowka-blyskowa-45ws ... 67016.htmlI do not know what to choose for the studio, a continuous light or the flash (eg. continuous light http://allegro.pl/zestaw-swiatlo-ciagle ... 88224.html ) I have seen using continuous light is easier but photos are less sharp than using flash. Actually I use flash for some photos (an old ring flash), and continuous light for others (four spot lights with 60 led each). Specimens under 3-4 mm only with spot lights, because lens is too close to the insect to use a ring flash. There is an english version of that interesting website? Polish is very difficult to read, also using a translator!

Sure I decide to 3x30W continuous light (fluorescent). Cosmin wrote that the photo of Lycoperdina succincta was made with 3x35W and with these parameters: 1 / 60, F 4.5, ISO 200. Unfortunately, this website is only in Polish.

Unfortunately, this website is only in Polish. I presume that this problem will interest more persons so will try to put it also in italian. I have just done a test: flash (annular flash: Sigma EM-140DG) vs. continuous light, here is the result (just stacked & resize without any other changes). To he honest I'm not sure why there are so big differences... both were done in the exact way the only exception was 27 photos (at 1/50-F5-ISO200) for the one with flash and 32 (1/80-F5-ISO200) for the one with continuous light. Another remark... was extremely hard to obtain a focus start point when photographing with flash. Probably this is not too accurate but this was my result.

Hello Cosmin. Sorry but in the photo made with flash there was a problem during the stacking process! This is the main reason of so big difference.
Ciao Cosmin.

Just to try to understand: how is controlled the flash? (E)TTL or fixed power? I've read somewhere that for stacking the flash should be set to manual mode; I never did so till now and I never got an acceptable result.

P.S. - Io uso il flash anulare esclusivamente in manuale

Just to see the result using a ring flash in manual mode, this is a photo made with an old Carl Zeiss Jena Tessar 2.8/50 (an economic lens for Russian cameras), without modifications, except white balance and reduction to 1024 pixel for the Forum.
