Saluti, #1638 Captured at an alt. ~ 990 m - Cne Virieu-le-Petit (Dépt. Ain - France) - 02.07.1986 The hindwings have 2 additional orangy points (they are at the end of the 2 red lines), they are very well visible in dorsal sight. I looked for in the little of literature (that I possess) and on the Net, I did not find this variety. Have you an opinion ? Thank you for your help. Ciao. D & JP Balmer

Dear friend, i thing that the two additional points are grease stains. If you look at the tip of the abdomen the grease has the same color. I have a specimen of Pieris rapae in my collection with the same orange spots in the same area of the hindwings |

Dear D & JP Balmer, Theese two points are spot of grease essudating from the tip of the abdomen. You can see that the two spot are asimmetrical. The wings get dirty when closed on the abdomen. Gonepteryx sometimes get dirty. |
