Ciao,

In Europe, the genus Eurylabus contains only 3 sp. (rare everywhere, according to Mr. Valemberg) : E. larvatus - E. torvus - E. tristis.
They are present in France and Italia.
- E. larvatus ♂ was marvelously photographed by Mr. Miroslav Fiala, see :
- We captured the 2 others sp. : E. torvus ♀ & E. tristis ♂.
You will find below E. torvus, E. tristis will follow in another Message.
---
Biblio. mainly consulted :
JF. Perkins - Res Handbooks (London) - vol. VII part 2 (ai) - 1959 , of which p.48 (the 3 species are discriminated)
---
E. torvus ♀ # 4587 captured in Forest of Montmorency (Dépt. Val d'Oise - France) on 23.05.2009.

This sp. is similar to a capture made to the same place, one week before and identified like such by Mr. Valemberg.
To confirm this identity I used the work of JF Perkins above.
One can note in particular, for the ♀ :
- Gaster narrowed apically.
- Flagellum with a white ring, sometimes (it is the case here) with the basal segments red.

Saluti.

Hello JP. Very fine.
What's the meaning of the red number in your photos?

Ciao,
Thank you for your message.
The red n° is the n° of the capture (preserved or not) in the calendar order.
Saluti.
