Helo! Today present an interesting representative of Sphingidae: Some taxon suellus consider it a subspecies, while others only aberrations of color or form. Anyway we are dealing with Deilephila porcellus suellus (STAUDINGER, 1878).  Armenia, Syunik Marz, Aygedzor, 11 VI 2013, ad lucem, leg. A. Woźniak, det. R. Zamorski

Very nice and interesting specimen (and taxon), with a wing pattern deeply different from that of our populations of the same species: for all those who don't know it, we are speaking about the Small Elephant Hawk-moth, Deilephila porcellus (Linnaeus, 1758), this one: |

 I'm very surprised that this is the same species of Deilephila porcellus I Know!

In addition to coloration is difficult to find any other differences between the nominative subspecies and Delilephila porcellus (ssp.?) (ab.?) (var.?) suellus.

If the name porcellus refers to its pinkish colouring, it not so suitable for this taxon... |
