Il Legit sembra di un bulgaro, ma la località Elasis proprio non la trovo. E' possibile, visto anche l'aspetto, che provenga dalla Tracia greca, dove un bulgaro aveva introdotto una popolazione di Archon apollinus alla fine degli anni '20.

Infatti!! E' stato introdotto. Questo è quanto mi dice via e-mail Stanislav Abadjiev sull'argomento:
"during the Balkan war, around 1913, caterpillars of apollinus were collected somewhere on Kuru Dagi... this is not a big mountain in Turkey, just along the Marmara Sea. Subsequently this material with enough quantity of the food plant (we don't have this particular species of Aristolochia in Bulgaria) was transferred and reared at the so-called Entomological Station in Sofia. At the museum we have many boxes of bred specimens... perhaps 7 or 8 generations. In the twenties of the last century part of these were released alive (as caterpillars) by a man (his name is Delcho Ilchev) north of Alexandroupolis (around Potamos Railway Station). This was one of the favorite places, visited many times by several of the Bulgarian entomologists at that time (before and after!!!). It is documented that he did this "release" in 2 subsequent years... hundreds of caterpillars. Before that nobody has even spotted apollinus there and I (and not only I...) concluded that the reason of the current presense of apollinus there is of introduction. Now this population is relatively strong... spreading in north and south along a small river there. "
