Cito testualmente da Racheli & Cotton (2009 - Guide to Butterflies of the Palearctic region. Papilionidae part I. Subfamily Papilioninae, Tribes Leptocircini, Teinopalpini): "Taxon feisthamelii is generally regarded as conspecific with I. podalirius (e.g. De Prins & Iversen, 1996, Hancock, 1983, Munroe, 1961, Tolman & Lewington, 1997 and, tentatively, Häuser, 2001) whereas Tennent (1996), and Wohlfahrt (1996, 1998) had considered it as a separate species, due to records of sympatry in south western France. Wiemers (2003) and Wiemers and Fiedler (2007) reported that the genetic difference of COI between Moroccan and Spanish populations of I. podalirius feisthamelii is quite high (2.1 %) such as usually only found between different species. On the contrary, lower genetic divergence was found between Spanish and Greek populations of feisthamelii/podalirius (0,1 %). There is currently no additional evidence to support species differentiation between Moroccan and Spanish populations." Sembrerebbe, quindi, che le popolazioni marocchine potrebbero essere una specie differente, ma non esistono ancora dati sufficienti per considerarle tali. |
