Hi,

Is this indeed Ophonus azureus (Fabricius, 1775)? Collected in Sardegna on Light. size: ~8/9mm

Hi Thijmen,
But it has blue reflections, or is without reflections?.

Because it seems to me more a Ophonus rotundatus

Hi Augusto!

The blue reflections are absent or (very) slightly visible. Is the blue reflection in azureus always clearly visible? Do you think this is O. rotundatus instead?

Generally yes, there may be some exceptions (but I have not yet seen, you have to hear other colleagues).

However, the base of the prothorax, your specimen is decidedly rounded and narrow.

There is also another species very similar to rotundatus, and is the subquadratus.

The difference for two species, from the upper tarsus, the rotundatus them hairless

Non so se hai capito il mio pessimo inglese :oooner: .

Ciao Riccardo,
avevo escluso il pumilio per le dimensioni, Thijmen scrive 8-9 mm ed io il più grande che possiedo arriva a malapena a 7,2 mm.

Yes offcourse I understand you. So, if I'm correct I have to check the upper side of the tarsus: if it show hairs it is subquadratus, tarsus without hairs is rotundatus.

It is 8.5 mm, so this excludes pumilio.

I can not understand then why did you write this :roll: :
