Hi,

another species from the pitfall trap installed in a mountain area (Babes Mountain, 45.465958 / 25.913235, ~1350 m altitude) (29.june-8.july.2010). The habitat is a Fagus forest (mixed with Abies and some Picea) near the tree limit.
size of the specimens 11 mm.
is possible to go for a name? if needed I can try to make also other photos.

Grazie,
cosmln

Hi Gabriele,

sadly this is not present in the key of Trautner & Geigenmuller, but looking here I think this can be the correct ID.

Any other comments?

p.s. the genitalia is extracted if you think that could be useful

Yes, we can check, here is the only sketch I have for C. metallicus from Schatzmayr (1937):

hi cosmin

the id is apparently correct, moreover i see that previously recognized subspecies are currently synonymized

therefore

Calathus (Neocalathus) metallicus Dejean, 1828
