It is Rutpela maculata (Poda, 1761) male. In Northern Spain it is easy to find specimens with black pattern very extended, this specimens are quite common in that area and extremly rare in other regions. Pierpaolo

Pierpaolo, se proprio vogliamo essere precisi, siccome esiste anche una ssp. irmasanica Sama, 1996 endemica di Turchia e presto anche una ssp. nigricornis endemica di Sicilia, il nome corretto è Rutpela maculata maculata (Poda, 1761). A male

Remarks Danilevski,14.9.2010 Rutpela maculata nigricornis (Stierlin, 1864) described as Strangalia armata var. nigricornis Stierlin, 1864 from Sicilia, is accepted as a valid name (Rapuzzi and Sama, 2006) for a subspecies from Calabria and Sicilia. The name R. m. nigricornis (Stierlin, 1864) was also published as valid by Sama & Loble (2010), but the area of the taxon was limited by Sicily only. According to Rapuzzi & Sama (2010): Strangalia armata var. nigricornis Stierlin, 1864 is unavailable name. The name of the taxon was published as “Rutpela maculata nigricornis Rapuzzi & Sama, 2006”, but its area was once more enlarged to Calabria : “di Calabria (Aspromonte) et di Sicilia”. That name - “R. m. nigricornis Rapuzzi & Sama, 2006” can not be available as was not introduced as new, but as “status novus” of the name Strangalia armata var. nigricornis Stierlin, 1864. Such action does not make the name available with new authors after 1999 – see Article 16.1 of the ICZN. According to Lazarev (2008) all populations of Rutpela maculata from Caucasus and Crimea must be regarded as R. m. nigricornis because of black hind tibiae in males. The nominative subspecies is distributed in most part of Europe including France , Italy , Bulgaria , Moldavia , Ukraine , European part of Russia . L. maculata nigricornis (Stierlin, 1864) seems to be distributed in most part of Turkey and evidently in Spain .
