Several adults reared from praepupae found in moribund or already dead shrubs of Argyranthemum gracile. Pupation under laboratory conditions (constant temperature 25°C) in May 2010.
This species attacks living host plants. The character of the development of larvae is very similar to other species of genus Trichoferus attacking living plants (T. spartii, T. antonioui, T. berberidis). The larva first attacks one lateral branch, creates gallery under the bark, what causes death of this part of the plant, later it enters the central stem and finally its root system, as a result the plant is slowly dying, so at the end of development of larva the plant is almost or totally dead. Pupating takes place in the lower part of the plant, pupal cell is created in the center of the stem, exit hole about 5 – 10 cm above the ground level.
