An insect that I was excited, when I found it.
I never met it again.
Unique specimen, on the stalk of a small grassy plant, at the edge of a plantation with Populus sp. trees.
Altitude about 750 m.
Length 5.5 mm.

- It is probably somewhat more common in Caucasus and in southern Russia, Marco. There are some photos and references, on Russian websites.

- Hahaha, yes, that's how is an unarmed (inermis) in the eastern Mediterranean. In contrast to an armed (armatus) a little further to the west: viewtopic.php?f=240&t=95303&hilit=armatus

Hi George,

did you ever try to check Cistus spp. to look for such "hispini" ?

I do remember that several species of this group are hosts of these small bushes.

Just a try and a vague memory, it's not my cup of tea.

About O. armatus: it's a very common species in Italy, but showing a lot of different populations that sometimes wake up suspects.

More or less clothed, more or less "armed", slender, stout, etc.

....Mhhh....

I think that from Cistus comes only the Dicladispa testacea.
All the others that I have found (Hispa atra, Lepthispa filiformis and this one), come from varius Poaceae plants.

Therefore, it's confirmed. It's not my cup of tea. :D
