Oggetto del messaggio:  Erebia spp. plurime - Nymphalidae Satyrinae
Gli esemplari di queste foto sono stati presi 15-20 anni fa da Valéry Rebizant (mi ha mandato le foto per e-mail) nella valle di Chamonix (Haute-Savoie, 74, Francia) e sulle montagne che la circondano; purtroppo date e altitudine sono approssimative e poco significative (tra 1000 e 3000m, luglio e agosto, dati che comprendono praticamente tutte le erebie :( ), ma vediamo cosa riusciamo a fare... ;)

Mmmm vediamo .... a occhio direi che la 3° a sx prima fila è E. pandrose, E. melampus è ok, le altre dovrei prendere le tavole e vedere gli esemplari in collezione, appena ho tempo lo faccio.

In questi giorni proverò ad approfondire, con il poco materiale che ho a disposizione :( anche se in linea di massima le probabili specie dovrebbero essere queste.

Grazie, Paolo / Carlo / Claudio.

These Erebie are part of my personal collection.

Carlo, I believe I have never seen E. pandrose…

Claudio, your determination confirms what I thought for many of these: 01 as E. tyndarus, 08 as E. montana (male - maschio), while 10 as E. montana (female - femmina).
The only two I do not agree with are:
- 06, which I believe is E. cassioides (I saw several similar to this one, not the same as number 01, while E. tyndarus is more rare in Haute-Savoie).
- 12, which could be E. pluto or E. oeme lugens according to my literature e.g. by L. Higgins / B. Hargreaves (but not E. manto I believe, as too different to number 04 for example, and not E. pharte, which is slightly smaller and with larger orange parts).

Thank you in advance for further confirmations / opinions.

I agree with cassioides I still have difficulties in understanding the proper range of distribution of species cassioides/tyndarus :roll:

I confirmed tyndarus because I based on the distribution represented on these maps :oooner:

and so I ruled out the cassioides :oops:


But in reading Range Description (cassioides):
Cita:
Scattered occurrence in several mountainous regions of Europe: Spain (Cantabrian Mountains., Pyrenees), France (Pyrenees, Massif Central and the western and eastern Alps), central Italy, Romania (Carpathians), Bulgaria (Rila and Pirin Mountains.) and in the mountains of Serbia, Albania and Bosnia. Found at altitudes between 1,600-2,600 m. This is a European endemic species.


France (..., Massif Central and the western and eastern Alps)
then the Chamonix valley is within the range.



For the subject 12, E. pluto, the photo of the wings above convince me but I am not convinced the photo at the bottom of the wings.
I tried to make an enlargement and also if you see me hurt recalls Erebia alberganus :oooner: (may be a exemplar with abnormal patterns :roll: )

I had considered E. manto, because, considered correct determination, here I found a very similar or nearly identical individual ;) (this the page of the species)

Can you put two pictures with higher resolution and focus of this example?
