Actually P. angustata is a E-european species which is present only in N Italy.
It is not particularly common but may be sometimes trapped in abundance in xeric or termophilous woodlands.
I have never seen it on flowers.

Did you collect it by trap or on thistles?

on some big thistle, don't know what species... I can only say that on the same plant was full of Agapanthia cynarae (Gyllenhal, 1817).

A vista l'ho presa diverse volte su Paliurus nelle prime settimane di giugno (Medeazza - TS, Sistiana - TS), alcuni esemplari molto "purpurei"

P. angustata is extremely common in continental Greece in June-July, especially on flowers of Cirsium, Onopordon, etc.

in bassa Val Camonica la trovo abbastanza comune insieme alla cuprea che si mangia le pesche precoci alla mia vigna :x  intorno a giugno, ma anche in altri periodi dell'anno
