Confrontandola con le metallica italiane che ho, la punteggiatura del pronoto è diversa...

Alcuni considerano P. metallica come specie a parte, con anche delle sottospecie. Io ho esemplari siberiani (Russia asiatica) classificati come Protaetia metallica daurica, poi so che esisterebbe pure una P. metallica volhyniensis che vivrebbe in Ukraina orientale e parte della Russia. E' probabile che queste siano ora considerate solo forme e messe in sinonimia con P. cuprea metallica, ma potrebbero avere differenze morfologiche rispetto alle nostre. |

Protaetia metallica is very variable in almost everything: pronotum and elytra sculpture, number and disposition of the white drawings, the width of the lateral margin of the pronotum, the shape of the mesosternal process and even the aedeagus, even in specimens collected in the same location and the same date. I will attach a pdf after one of my ancient papers about the Protaetia (Potosia) metallica (Herbst, 1782) in Romania. I apologize the paper is written in Romanian, but the explanation of the figures and abbreviations in the table are in Romanian and English.
