Ciao a tutti. Veramente una forma cromatica particolare, molto bella. A me sembra una di quelle forme di passaggio fra Potosia cuprea ssp. obscura e ssp. metallica che si trovano nelle vallate alpine.

Grazie per le risposte, prima di tutto. Se non ho capito male, dovrebbe essere effettivamente Protaetia il genere, cuprea la specie, e in più ci sono ipotesi diverse per la sottospecie (mentre Potosia è un nome precedente). Giusto? Vorrei aggiungere che la differenza di colore tra la prima e la seconda foto non è dovuta a filtri o impostazioni della macchina, che stanno a zero; è la luce naturale di un giorno di sole, in cui ho cambiato posizione tra la prima e la seconda foto. |

Have you a picture of the ventral surface? P. cuprea should be violet on ventral. The legs and the proepimera should be violet too. Then what subspecies are recorded in that area? P. cuprea subspecies can often hybridise. The pictures not show very well, but I suggest it is Protaetia fieberi, old specimen with the white spots on the elytra removed. The femur/tibia articulations of the hind legs and the ventral surface would tell me more if I am right or wrong. |

No, sorry, no other photos and in particular no ventral view. As to your assessment that there might have been a white mark when the specimen was younger, I noticed this (this is a greatly magnified image): Might this be the area where a white mark was present? |
