Dovrebbe essere un Lucanidae, simile ai nostri Platycerus, ma non conosco la fauna del Nord America. |

A mia (molto) parziale scusante: l'ho trovato in una trappola a caduta innescata con pezzetti di pollo (ovviamente stavo cercando carabidi). Cosa ci facesse li' un lucanide non riesco a capirlo! |

Thanks for the information Jan! As you pointed out, those 2 species only live West of the Rocky Mountains. In the East there is only one species: Platycerus quercus (sometimes incorrectly referred to as Platycerus virescens) |

You are right, there is also Platycerus depressus, but in the East it lives in Canada, somewhat North of the Finger Lakes region where I live. It is present in some middle states of the US, however Thanks again !
