they are really not very similar... It's funny that the beetle from Thailand very similar to your one was also identified as A. platypyga: http://zmmu.msu.ru/files/images/spec/Ru ... 20Inet.pdf so I do not know what that all means

This is Anomala platypyga without problems. A variable species, the current color pattern is described as A. protea before, but there are not different in genitalia and the two form sympatric. |
