Dear enthomologists, I have yet another problematic species I need help to determine. It is probably Onthophagus ovatus or O. joannae. As I did never before identify them, I really am not sure. If anybody could help me I will be grateful  I know that the main difference is in the genitalia, but I am not sure what to look for. Many thanks! Toni

Not easy at all - not for me, at least - the discrimination between Onthophagus joannae and O. ovatus using external morphological charachters and/or paramera. Considering the collecting locality, it could be O. joannae, but for a definite ID the vision of the lamella copulatrix is required. |

Thanks! I did not know until yesterday that I need to extract this lamina copulatrix... I will do it and then post it  Best regards, Toni |
