Help with determination please.

Scaurus calchosomaceus Never imagined that something like that simply exists!
It has a sort of devilish appearance.

Thanks. Yes, it is one of the most bizarre Tenebrionidae! Something between Triceratops and Chalcosoma Do you have some link or literature? Google does not know "calchosomaceus".

I am sorry that the name was taken seriously.
Nothing to thank me about, it was just a joke fostered by the very strange insect: honestly I apologize for the inconvenient, as I don't have the faintest idea of the true name of this animal. It is not a Scaurus and more so not calchosomaceus!
Please do not waste your time about my (probably stupid) identification.

It is cca 1,5 cm long. I will try to make lateral photo.

Fine ! What about sexual dimorphism, but it's perhaps your single specimen ?

I have a few other specimens. All morphologicaly the same.

If that would be a Scarab (the Calchosoma of my joke, for instance) likely only the males would have those "horns", but since this appears to be a Tenebrionidae maybe (maybe!!!! or probably) the horns have nothing to do with sex. The side images are really disturbing for the resemblance with Scarabs. It is strange that nobody has info about this "monster"!

Non l'avevo mai visto prima, ma credo che, scherzando, Augusto non sia andato tanto lontano dalla verità. Ha tutta l'aria di essere veramente uno Scaurino, o tribù vicina, anche se non ho idea di quali generi ci siano nel Sud-Est asiatico.
