I have just returned from a trip to Morocco, I found several species of Meloidae, both as in the dessert as in the Middel Atlas. I will add some pictures to try to identificate some specimens. For the moment I think this is one Diaphorocera chrysoprasis, but I am not sure. It was collected near Tinejdad, it measures about 7-8mm.

In Morocco, there are species of Diaphorocera with mixed chrysoprasis and hemprichi characters. I think this is also the case. It could be characterized by the male protibia as in chrysoprasis and the antennae and temples as in hemprichi. The question is whether it is a distinct species or a subspecies. I have collected several tens specimens in Morocco and they have always been of this intermediate phenotype. I consider it as D. cfr. hemprichi. |

Ok, thank you so much, that level of accuracy in the answer is astonishing. It is clear that chrysoprasis and hemprichi are very similar. |
