Plinthomeleus sturmii (Germar, 1819).
This locality is rather interesting, since in Fauna Europea this species was not cited for Romania.
Plinthomeleus was accepted as subgenus in FE, but I am fully convinced that it is a valid genus. It includes many species and differential characters are constant in all species, in external morphology, male genitalia, particularly internal sac, and female genitalia, sternum VIII.

Bene!!! :hp: :hp:
Per il genere avevo visto giusto!! ;)
Ovviamente, per eventuali altri esemplari, la precedenza, considerando l'utilità dei reperti, va al Prof. Meregalli :lov2: :lov2: .....se poi ne trovi in abbondanza! ;) :p :p

Indeed it would be nice to see specimens from Transsylvania. Biology is not well known, usually these species can be found sifting leaf litter in shaded and relatively humid habitats, or searching among roots of Asteraceae Carduoideae - but some species of Plinthini also feed on Polygonaceae, again easier to be found in the roots.

These species are quite often found in pitfall traps. The fact that there are several specimens is a good indication that in that area there must be plenty - they fall only by chance in the pitfall, while walking. For me, it would be enough a male and a female, if available. Thanx a lot!!
