The problem with Otiorhynchus, is that possibly there isn't a real "specialist", these last years. I note that probably the best works on these insects come from Reitter (1912-1914). This is a group with about 1500 species and more than 100 genera/subgenera, in an ambiguous state, with slight modifications every so . Except of the descriptions of several new species and the declarations of some synonyms, there isn't a more general approach to this group from the modern scientists. Neither a good view to their phylogeny, either based on morphology or on DNA. Thus, every one does that he can, based mainly on the knowledge of the species from his country and after trying to make some general conclusions. Some mistakes are a "necessary evil", but the discussions always helps, and usually helps a lot. For this species, I vote also, Otiorhynchus (Cryphiphorus) ligustici. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
