It is not a member of the genus Staphylinus but different genus Platydracus. Compare shape of head in both genera:

Staphylinus: http://www.colpolon.biol.uni.wroc.pl/staphylinus.htm
In the genus Platydracus head is widest at base with distinct basal angles while in the genus Staphylinus head is more regularly rounded without distinct basal angles. The beeetle on photo is very similar to Platydracus stercorarius.
