The genus Pseudopsis Newman, 1834 belongs after Herman (2000) to the subfamily Pseudopsinae with genera Pseudopsis, Nanobius, Asemobius and Zalobius. The last three genera are distributed in the Nearctic Region only. The 46 described species of the genus Pseudopsis Newman are known from Neotropical, Nearctic, Palaearctic and Australian Regions.
The species Pseudopsis sulcata Newman 1834 is distributed in Europe, Russia, Turkey, Algeria, Tunisia and Morocco. About 27 faunistic records of this species are known in Europe since its description. One record is known from the Czech Republic only from the beginning of the last century (Fleischer 1927-1930. This historical record is situated to the locality in the lowland of the Elbe river near the town Český Brod (elevation about sea level - 219 m).
