It is not a member of the genus Omaspides nor the tribe Mesomphaliini. In the Neotropical Region common is social mimicry and species of various genera and tribes from the same area look very similar. The beetle on photo is a member of the tribe Eugenysini and the genus Miocalaspis. It looks similar to my Miocalaspis ecuadorica but with distinct pattern on explanate margin of elytra. With great probability belongs to a new species. |
