Not easy to determination from only photo. Looks like members of T. monticola group. |

Thanks Lech. It's very difficult to find enough info online. The monticola group is the same than subgenus Timarchostoma? According to Fauna Europaea, the next species of the subgenus can be found in Spanish mainland: Timarcha affinis ----- > subspecies of interstitialis or of goettingensis?? endemic of Albères mountains, too far east for my specimen Timarcha aragonica ------> subspecies of goettingensis? endemic to Albarracin in Teruel Timarcha asturiensis------> red femora, endemic of NW Iberian Peninsula Timarcha catalaunensis -----> subspecies of interstitialis, endemic to Gerona Timarcha chloropus --------> endemic of Galicia and Portugal Timarcha cyanescens-------> endemic to northern Spain it don't reach Pyrenees Timarcha daillei --------> endemic to Pyrenees from Catalonia to Navarra, so it could be! Timarcha geniculata----------> red femora, don't reach Pyrenees Timarcha globipennis----------> endemic to Portugal? Timarcha gougeleti------------> red femora, endemic to NW Spain Timarcha interstitialis----------> apparently reach only eastern Pyrenees but not central Pyrenees (found in Catalonia but not in Aragon) where the location of this specimen is Timarcha monserratensis------->subspecies of interstitialis? endemic to Catalonian mountains Timarcha monticola------------> found in mountains of Aragon and Catalonia but not in Pyrenees Timarcha oblongula------------> no data about location inside Spain? Timarcha obsoleta-------------> endemic to western Pyrenees. It could be? Timarcha perezi---------------> I know well this one, is the one found where I live. A lowland species, it could never be found at these high altitudes Timarcha pontavicei------------> I can't find any info, probably a synonym? Timarcha recticollis---------> endemic to central Pyrenees. I hope is not this one, as I already had this species Timarcha sphaeroptera -----------> a southwestern species Timarcha strangulata-------------> endemic to central Pyrenees over 1500 meters, so it could be! Timarcha temperei----------------> endemic to central Pyrenees, so it could be! So we have as very probable candidates: Timarcha daillei, T. obsoleta, T. strangulata, T. temperei And as vaguely possible candidates: Timarcha oblongula, T. pontavicei Any more help to find which ones can match with the specimen in the photo? |
