Hi Honza, at least the first of the two females of P. vulpes bogoevski looks like P. humeralis, or less probably, P. apicalis. Did you ckeck for this species? As for the subspecies: currently they are not regarded as valid, but this does not mean they are not. Simply I do not know enough this species to give a thorough opinion. |

I was looking for vulpes' images in the forum, and have found this topic. I'd say that in this photo by Honza only first and second specimen (from the left) may be respectively male and female of Pygopleurus vulpes, even if I have some doubts. The others are two females and one male of a different taxon, but definitively not vulpes. If Jan may kindly indicate the locality of all specimens, this would help to understand what they are. Moreover these are two females of what most authors call Pygopleurus humeralis. |

Hi Jan, thank you for the image. I'd say that N° 1 is vulpes. I am also quite sure that, if you compare the parameres of N° 1 with those of N° 5-6 (both are, most probably, the same species), you will find that they belong to another species, but definitively not vulpes. N° 2 and N° 4 might be females of vulpes (but N° 2 might be also diffusus), while N° 3 (female) and N° 7 (male?) both belong to some turkish species (they may be conspecific or not), but they are not vulpes. |
