Verlinden 1994 : Faune de Belgique - Syrphidés (Syrphidae) , IRNSB ----- The species of genus Sericomyia can be confused with certain Chrysotoxum. The main difference between the 2 genera is obvious if we examine their antennae : Long for Chrysotoxum, short for Sericomyia ---- There are 2 Sericomyia known, in France and Italy. In Italy mainland it is surprising that one did not captured S. silentis in the North of the country. The Sericomyia are unknown in Sardinia and Sicily --- The essential characters separating lappona and silentis are : - The apex of abdomen is black for lappona, yellow for silentis - The clear transverse bands of tergites are narrow and whitish for lappona, yellow and wider for silentis.
