Hi Georgi. This specimen is not easy. Are the colors as seen in the picture? What plant did you pick it on? how many specimens?

Hello, Silvano. These are the true colours. I think I found it on Crataegus, or Quercus with less probability, but I remember the exact place. It's the only one Rhynchitidae from the day. |

In my opinion this is Neocoenorrhinus abeillei (Desbrochers des Loges, 1869). It is a rather rare species, known only from France, Italy and Greece. If my identification is correct, this is the first report for Bulgaria. If possible, I recommend that you collect other specimens and make observations on the host plant and biology.

Thank you very much, Silvano! There is Acer in the place where it was present. No other specimens were found but I'll be visiting the area these days again.
