Mauro ha scritto: Araniella sp. - Araneidae. Thanks for the answer Mauro. ![]() ![]() There are 6 species registered in Turkey. Araniella alpica (L. Koch, 1869) Araniella cucurbitina (Clerck, 1757) Araniella displicata (Hentz, 1847) Araniella inconspicua (Simon, 1874) Araniella opisthographa (Kulczyński, 1905) Araniella proxima (Kulczyński, 1885) Source : http://www.spidersofturkey.info/araneidae.htm The Comparison tool in the World Spider Catalogue of the Natural History Museum of Bern has been very helpful. I would like to take this opportunity to express my sincere thanks to those who contributed to this catalogue. It works great. It's difficult with just a photo, of course, but judging from the ridge points, it looks like our species Araniella displicata. Am I thinking right? The arrangement of the points on the Opisthosoma, as presented in the table you attach, would actually indicate displicata. But I believe that 100% safety comes only from the examination of the genitals. |

But I believe that 100% safety comes only from the examination of the genitals. You are right for 100% clear diagnosis. Of course, what can be done from photography is limited. However, looking at the sentence below and the image above, I thought that we could probably say this is the specie. Of course, mine is nothing more than an amateur guess, since you are its expert. Many thanks for your contribution. ![]() Cita: "The possession of three (rarely four) pairs of small black spots on the abdominal dorsum is somewhat diagnostic for this species (Sacher, 1990)"
