Hello friends,
Larvae from manure. Can Polyphylla sp (etc. Polyphylla fullo) larvae?

Most likely Oryctes nasicornis

Thank you Marco,
Yes it looks. larvae must be hard to distinguish from each other. What is the distinctive feature?

Yes, difficult indeed, so my identification is only temptative.

However, Polyphylla larvae eat roots and therefore are not expected in manure, while manure is suitable for saprophagous species such as Oryctes.
Distinction of Melolonthinae (Polyphylla) from Dynastinae based on sound morphological characters would require dissection of mouthparts.

I have never directly seen a Polyphylla larva. However, based on what I could directly see, larvae of close genera (Anoxia, Melolontha) are clerarly slender than larvae of Oryctes, whose general look fits that of your photo. Larvae of Orcytes are also rather distinct for their strongly rugose head (not visible in your photos).

Many thanks for your detailed reply.
The last question if you will not piss off you :);
For the distinction of Dynastinae Melolonthinae, is a detailed macro photograph(high resolution macro) of the mouth useful? Or do you necessarily have to do dissection?

Will check literature and will be back soon...

Examination of mouthparts would require dissection, but there's one more character that yesterday I forgot: the anal slit of Melolonthinae is angled or Y-shaped, while in Dynastinae it is straight.

Thanks a lot Marco,
I learned something from you.
In the photo I found, Y shows a straight anal slit.
I'm gonna find larvae again to confirm.
I'm not sure but it looks like a Y-shaped anal slit.

If it's Y-shaped, could Polyphylla fullo?
The farmers here claim to be Polyphylla fullo.

If the anal slit is angled of Y shaped, yes, it could be Polyphylla.
