Described as Julodis onopordi sulcata var. kalalae Pochon, 1971, must be considered a synonim of Julodis andreae sulcata Redtenbacher, 1843. I am not so sure of differences between ssp. andreae and ssp. sulcata, and the latter is known from Israel, Lebanon, Syria and Turkey, while ssp. andreae is the only one known for Iraq (and Iran). So, maybe this is an usual Julodis andreae andreae (Olivier, 1790). Being not sure, I prefer to identify it only as Julodis andreae (Olivier, 1790) |
