Could this be an Aporophyla sp.? Also from Cantabria, northern Spain, 24 October. Matthew

Hi Matthew, Yes, I agree, gender Aporophyla sp.. I think in all probability Aporophyla (Phylapora) nigra (Haworth, 1809) - Noctuidae Xyleninae

Thanks Claudio! I am wondering if my other [i]Aporophyla[/i] post might be a different species though - partly on the basis of markings but also wing shape (see below). There were lots of typical A.nigra but perhaps an A.lueneburgensis or other species among them? Matthew
