Thanks Pier Francesco! Looking at the excellent leps.it site, it seems especially tricky to distinguish Nebula nebulata from N.ibericata. Matthew :)

is true, but for this exemplar I incline Nebula ibericata (Staudinger, 1871), for the general colour :oooner:



... just to make things more difficult to add that in Spain there is also Nebula numidiata (Staudinger, 1892), very similar :? :oooner:

Can't find any reference to N.numidiata in Redondo or Leraut. Is the name a synonym for another species? :? Matthew

Hi Matthew,
on Fauna Europea this is:

"Species group name(s): numidiata Staudinger 1892, Original genus: Larentia, Taxonomic comment: not in (Karsholt, O. & Razowski, J., Eds. 1996); ocurring in Spain according to (Viidalepp, J. & Hausmann, A. 2009)"
