Hello, this specimen was collected last month, in other region (then in my previous post). I think it could be M. tanaceti too, but I have no sure because of black spots on tibiae and femora. Best regards Grzegorz |

Baris99 ha scritto: Europiella alpina ,again female Hello again ![]() I check this genre in key to polish Miridae. And I have some doubts. In this key: Cita: 9. Setae on dorsal part of body usually dark ... Plagiognathus -. Setae on dorsal part of body pale or yellow ... Europiella Mirid on my photos has distinctly black setae ... Why it could be an Europiella ? Best regards Grzegorz |

Well, after your warning I checked Europiella alpina again and I am sure that the upper surface of the body is covered with black setae. You can see the black setae very very easily on this specimen which is from a collection which means the identification can't be wrong: http://www.discoverlife.org/mp/20p?see= ... 08&res=640 But I am sorry that I missed out a very similar looking another species,Plagiognathus chrysanthemi. The difference between Europiella alpina and other Plagiognathus is that that the pubescence of Plagiognathus speices is uniform dark or pale coloured. But the pubescence of Europiella alpina is not uniform, half erected dark setae and between them all lying pale setae which we can't see in your photos. That's why it is Plagiognathus chrysanthemi. |

Thanks for answer and explanations. By the way I checked this issue in Wagner's key. In his publication Europiella is a part of Plagiognathus genre, but exist as a sub-genus Poliopterus. But in his key Poliopterus do not contain species E. alpina (Poliopterus alpina). And, what is the most important, Wagner used the same features to split Plagiognathus from Poliopterus: Cita: 3 (4) Pubescence de la face dorsale obscure, en général noire. Plagiognathus 4 (3) Pubescence de la face dorsale blanchâtre ou jaunâtre. Poliopterus In this case, seeing that Europiella has a black setae on dorsal side, we can miss out on the correct genre (I, like an amatour, missed out ![]() Best regards and thanks one more time for everythink Grzegorz |

You have a mistake. ![]() Europiella alpina has never classified as Plagiognathus (Poliopterus) alpina. All the combinations used for Europiella alpina are these: Plagiognathus alpinus Reuter 1875: 56 (n.sp., descr.); Kerzhner 1964 Psallus pallidus Reuter 1880: 24 (n. sp.,descr.) (syn. by Wagner 1958). Plagiognathus alpinus f. nigrescens Stichel 1934: 279 (n. form, key). Plagionathus alpinus f. simplex Stichel 1956:332 (n. form, key). Psallus (Psallus) alpinus: Wagner 1956a: 298 (disc., figs.); Wagner 1958: 325 (syn.). Plagiognathus (Chlorillus) alpinus: Kerzhner 1962: 384 (disc., figs.). Chlorillus alpinus: Wagner 1963b: 155 (disc.,); Wagner 1975: 13 (desc., key, figs.) In Fauna de France 67 (Wagner and Weber[Don't forget Weber ![]() |

Ok. I understand. Could you tell me where this informations come from (I mean some kind of website containing these data) ? Best regards Grzegorz PS. This time I checked P. chrysanthemi in every keys which I have and I am now absolutely sure it is P. chrysanthemi. And, what is most valuable to me, I understand now why it is P. chrysanthemi ![]() |
