C. variegatus is mostly more dark colored than C. variegatus and the spine on the posterior edge of the pronotum is longer robuster and more rounded in C. variegatus compared to C. spiniger. But these features are not constant. The main difference between these two species is the spines on the head. In the lateral view these spines are prominent only in the summit of the head in C. spiniger. They are prominent on the entire surface in C. variegatus. I cannot see the spines on the head so I chose to write "very probably" but not certainly. |
