Hello, can anybody identify this interesting Malachiinae from Middle Atlas? First I thought it might be some Haplomalachius (Flabellomalachius) sp., but it doesn't seem right. It has complex apex of elytra like some Clanoptilus or Axinotarsus... Size is about 5 mm.

Nice!! It is a male of Clanoptilus miricollis (Peyerimhoff, 1948), apparently a Moroccan endemic.  G.

Thank you! I tried to find the match in "Revision de la familia Malachiidae en Marruecos" - I was expecting that such characteristic species would be easy to identify, but for C. miricollis there is only photo of general looking female (which I probably have from same locality). |
