Hello, I found this small (4 mm) elateridae in a hollow of a willow. Any idea about it's name?

 Species of the genus Adrastus. Difficult to define the species from a picture, it seems a male and the genitalia must be examined. By the blackish colour it could be montanus (Scopoli) or a melanic form of axillaris Erichson.

Dear Alexandru, your picture is not the aedeagus but only one of the parts where the genitalia are protected. The aedeagus is trilobate, penis and two lateral paramera.

ohh , so the genitalia is inside this structure or I should look inside the beetle again ?

From the picture I cannot see if the aedeagus is inside!

| Dear Alexandru, the apex of penis is folding, the base is semidestroyed. I think that we can determine it as Adrastus montanus (Scopoli) cf.
