It's strange it's so difficult to find in your country. In Northern Greece and in most of the Pindos it is quite common.

It is rare here, and very localized. There are very few natural Pinus forests here, but lot of plantations and only one location with natural Pinus nigra. The location where he found it is quite new for me. It is possible to be Ch. intermedia too, but I still have not a valid confirmation.
So, it is not so strange. I have more than 90% of the Romanian Buprestidae, I did record 8 new species in the fauna, but I never see a Chalcophora alive.
