I present a short story about my meetings with Rhamnusium bicolor bicolor (SCHRANK, 1781) in Warsaw.

Alessandro, this is not the elm, but some species of poplar (Populus sp.)
In my town I meet Rhamnusium bicolor especially poplars, and chestnut trees (Aesculus sp.) and willows (Salix sp.), sometimes together with other interesting representative Cerambycidae: Anisarthron barbipes.

I found it on tilia, aesculus and populus.
In my town is not hard to find it on tilia...almost till old trees will stand!

I see! That's why I am asking, because elm is not a typical host for this species.

Ciao Marcello, si l'olmo è citato però da quel che so e leggo anche sul Forum non è una delle piante ospiti "tipiche" che sono appunto pioppo, ippocastano e tiglio. Cavoli io il Rhamnusium non l'ho mai beccato però credo sia più per una questione di tempo da dedicargli (che mi manca purtroppo) che di disponibilità di piante adatte perchè qui pioppi ed ippocastani grossi ce ne sono, malgrado ogni anno ne tirino giù qualcuno!

E' decisamente polifago. Si trova pure su quercia. Non conta tanto la specie, quanto la condizione della pianta e la presenza di parti adatte allo sviluppo della larva.

Infatti è segnalato di svariate latifoglie.
Sembra che polifagia e polimorfia vadano di pari passo...

In fact, it polifag.
In literature, a lot of trees in which to grow.
In Poland outside of Warsaw R. bicolor also met on oaks (Quercus spp.), birches (Betulus spp.), and Greece also beeches (Fagus sp.)

Dear Adam, i wanted to ask you as follow: have you ever found in Poland specimens of r. bicolor with elytra blu but lightly spotted of reddish colour in apical or basal part? And if yes, are this specimens caracterized by black spot between eyes?
