ivo, can you please send a good picture of the pronotum in dorsal view? We need to see if the lateral margins are completely reborded or with rebord vanishing in the anterior part. The latter condition is diagnostic for Protaetia (Liocola), although the general appearance and the white spots in particular seem to be very different from P. (L.) lugubris

In effetti marginicollis gli somiglia molto. Certo che se è lei, ne ha fatta di strada dall'Asia centrale!

Some time ago I wrote to Pierre Tauzin to have his opinion on this specimen: I copy it below, with the agreement of Pierre:

here is my opinion concerning the strange specimen coming from Greece -Chalkidiki, after many hours today for cheking details on the picture .

Could be Protaetia (Potosia) spendidula var. erivana Reitter, describe (*) as before: (sorry in French here .......)

"Pronotum presque lisse, le plus souvent avec de petites taches à peine visibles près du bord latéral; dessus et dessous d'un vert-doré (moins luisant que la variété persplendens Reitter, 1898). Espèce grande (21mm), et beaucoup plus densément et distinctement ponctuée que la variété perspendens.
Elytres présentant des mouchetures blanches petites ; segments abdominaux avec des bandes transversales blanches de chaque coté - Locus typicus :Erivan", (Armènie).

I don't know the taxonomic position of these type of variety because I hav'nt in my collection............................. I have only the variety (or subspecie ?) perspendens in my collection coming from the old Reitter collection (Syria), cotype.

Ivo if you can check the lateral margins of the pronotum we can at least exclude (or not) lugubris
